INUYASHA
Inuyasha follows the trail of a half dog demon (Hanyou) named InuYasha. *Surprize, surprize* He fellow
travelers are a perverse monk named Miroku, a chibi fox demon (kitsune) named Shippo, a girl from present day named Kagome,
and a demon slayer named Sango. They all join his cause to defeat the demon Naraku.
Kagome is a girl from present day. She also happens to be the reincarnation of the priestess Kikyo,
with whom InuYasha was in love. But Naraku turned them against each other and, lightly put, it ended badly, with InuYasha
bound to a tree with one of Kikyo's sacred arrows. The spell lasts for fifty years, until Kagome falls through a well into
the feudal era.
Miroku is a monk, but he is a monk with many things on his mind. Top on that list is Sango's rear.
(Kidding!!! *Runs from Miroku fans pelting heavy objects*) Also high on that list is the wind tunnel in his right hand, a
curse inherited from his grandfather, who had an encounter with Naraku. His life goals are to either defeat Naraku before
the tunnel swallows him whole, or bring a son in the world to carry on his quest, hence the fixation with Sango's rear.
Shippo is an orphan who meets up with the group at first in hopes of gaining sacred jewels to avenge
his father's death. Kagome takes the little fox under her protective wing and makes sure InuYasha has no say in it.
Sango is one of the coolest female anime characters I have run into. While she works well in the group,
he can hold her extremely well. She is also in pursuit of Naraku, who killed off her village and family, as well as holds
her little brother hostage.
Naraku: The main villain. He does bad things and pretty much everyone wants him dead. So he's the fuedal-era
version of Bush.
Other characters:
Koga- a wolf demon in love with Kagome, and detests InuYasha, and the feeling is mutal.
Kagura/Kanna- incarnations of Naraku. Kagura has control of the wind, and Kanna can suck souls into
a mirror she carries and take possesion of the bodies of the souls.
TRIGUN
Trigun follows the path of Vash the Stampede. Aside from the $$60 billion reward on his head, he also
has two insurance agents, Meryl and Millie, trying to find him and keep him under 24 hour servailance. They find him in the
very first eppie, but Vash doesn't want them to know it's him and Meryl doesn't believe flighty Millie's insistance that he
is the, as she puts it, "broomheaded baka."
Vash does seem to be the baka Meryl thinks him to be, but as we get deeper and deeper into his past,
we find he has every reason to be trying to enjoy his present life.
Other Character:
Nicholas D. Wolfwood- a traveling priest who's past is just as murky as Vash's
Knives- Vash's brother, or as I call him, the source of Vash's problems.
HARRY POTTER
If you don't know this one, I'd like directions to the rock you've been hiding under.
YU-GI-OH!
Again, directions to your rock.
I kid, I kid. I'm sure you're probably at least familiar with the card game or at least the name, but
perhaps not the story. The main character is a 17 year old (although he looks 10) named Yuugi Motou. His grandfather is an
archeologist and bring him home a gold puzzle for him to solve, since that's his thing. It takes him awhile, but he solves
it and lets loose the spirit of a 5,000 year old pharaoh, Yami. Yami can't remember a damn thing about his past as a pharaoh,
but he's a uber-good duelist and a quick study at any new game, hence his title as "The King of Games." That's the cliff notes
version.
Other Characters:
Joey Wheeler: Yugi's best friend, although he starts out as Yugi's best bully. He's called Jounouchi
Kasuya in the Japanese version. I love saying that name! *giggles*
Tristan: A good friend of Joey's.
Serenity: Joey (or Jou's) little sister. A seriously awesome character with a lot of strength inside
her.
Mai: Or, as I call her, "The female Yami" I kid you not. She's anawesome duelist and knows how to keep
her cool. She's Yami with a vagina. (Except Yami doesn't cheat occasionally.) She an Joey have a thing too.
Tea: The girl who makes me twitch. Seriously, she's another of Yugi's frieds with the token crush on
the lead character. She's always reminding everyone about the strangth of thier friendship.
Seto Kaiba: He's the bad boy who should be in the group, but sadly isn't.
Mokuba Kaiba: Seto's little brother.
Duke Devlin: Inventor of Dungeon Dice Monsters. Starts out as a villian, and develops a crush on Serenity.
THE DEMON ORORON
This manga follows Ororon, the king of devils, and Chiaki, a girl who's the daughter of the archangel
Micheal and a human. From the get go, they are very into each other, but Chiaki is agitated by Ororon's need to kill to defend
himself and her. I guess it's more or less a romance, but there's also much bloodshed and comedy, especially once Ororn's
older brother Othello shows up.
Other Characters:
Shiro/Kuro: cat demon brothers who orginally show up to eat Chiaki, but are now just part of her crazy
household.
Lika: Chiaki's best friend
Lady Miss Lucy: Ororn's family maid. He goes to get her after discovering Chiaki's lack of an ability
to cook. She is constantly at odds with Shiro and Kuro.
Othello: Ororon's oldest brother, named king after Ororon feld to the human world, and has come to
return him to his throne.
RUROUNI KENSHIN
This story follows and man named (surprise!) Himura Kenshin. He used to an assasin, but is now a rurouni,
or wandering smaurai, trying to atone for his sins as a hitokiri (assasin).
Other Characters:
Kaoru: Owner of the dojo Kenshin stays at. They also have a thing for each other. It's more obvious
in Kaoru.
Yahiko: Currently Kaoru's only student. Hot-tempered and idolizes Kenshin's samuri ablities.
Sanosuke: Kenshin's closest friend. He's also a strong little bastard.
